Today various kinds of handmade papers are made from 100% cotton rags. These cotton fibers have low ash, high alpha cellulose and practically no lignin. Cotton fiber of prime quality does not require any pulping or bleaching. Despite the fact that the process of handmade paper making is not comprised and it is totally manual; here the sheets are made by hand, therefore each sheet speaks itself. These sheets are made in exotic colors, variety, design to give the most exclusive, beautiful & unique looks & texture. The normal handmade paper sheets size is 22 X 30 (56 cm X 76 cm). They are made in different gramages / weight as per the need. The most common categories in thickness / weight are (text weight) 80-100 gsm, (medium weight) 180-200 gsm and (heavy weight) 280-300 gsm. However sheets can be made up to 1000 gsm in cotton rags. In some variety of handmade sheets like lokta, sheets are made even in 5 to 15 gsm also.
