Our earth is one of the most beautiful planets in this universe. This earth has 70.9% as water area & only 29.1% land area. most of the mankind believe that this earth is the creation of god, which is very natural & very beautiful. Human beings are considered to be the most intelligent living things on this earth and that is why it becomes our duty not only to respect but also to protect this environment & surroundings provided by the nature for our own happiness & healthier tomorrow.

In today’s modern time, the world is using more & more paper as it is one of the most essential commodities of modern life. The available of per capita consumption of paper (as in the year 2000) for the world was 48 kg (Ranging from 4.5 kg for India to 332 kg for USA) About half of the wood we use go in to paper & paper products. Approximately 300 trees are cut for every one tone of mill made paper. To manufacture one tone of paper board, paper mill requires 2.5-3 tone of dry forest based materials. The above consumption is expected to grow 6-8% annually the world over. With repaid modernization the demand of paper & paper products have risen sharply. This has led to a serious ecological problem. As a result forest cover has already come down from 30% of our land in the fifties to around 16% today. This large scale destruction of forest areas is creating a great threat to our environment, nature & life. Apart from this paper mill industry is usually considered as one of the high polluting industry.

As mentioned above, mankind as being intelligent and nature loving, has the solution of this problem in the form of handmade paper. The handmade paper is not only wood free but is eco friendly also. Handmade paper converts waste into wealth by using mainly cotton rags. This industry also uses agro waste, grass, jute / straw waste, banana stem, mulberry bark, sisal, weed, and also waste paper.
